PUERTO RICO | EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE AWARD
EEI: EDISON ELECTRIC INSTITUTE
In 2018, Edison Electric Insitute awarded APR Energy the EEI Emergency Assistance award for support of the recovery efforts in Puerto Rico from Hurricane Maria. APR Energy installed and operationalized 60 MW of power generation in 17 days, completing one of the fastest installations ever for a mobile gas turbine. Following the initial installation, the company was contracted to provide an additional 30 MW of power to the Yabucoa region. APR Energy’s power plants are now helping to stabilize the power grid and restore critically needed electricity to thousands of homes, hospitals, schools and businesses – a vital step in the long process of the rebuilding of Puerto Rico.
EGYPT | TOP PLANTS AWARD
In 2016, POWER magazine awarded APR Energy its second Top Plants Award, recognizing the company’s efforts to support development of a large-scale polyethylene plant being constructed by the Egyptian Ethylene and Derivatives Company (ETHYDCO). APR Energy’s three-unit 60MW gas-fired power plant was installed and commissioned within 90 days to meet the urgent power needs of the industrial project, ensuring reliability through redundancy, and designing and implementing customized gas filtration and compression solutions.
MYANMAR | TOP PLANTS AWARD
POWER magazine’s 2015 award for the Kyaukse plant highlights APR Energy’s ability to install 68 reciprocating engines for 82MW of capacity in just two months in a country transitioning to democratic rule, to commission an additional 20MW of capacity ahead of schedule, and to enable skills training and economic development for a previously isolated economy.
OMAN | POWER PROJECT OF THE YEAR
MEED: MIDDLE EAST BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE
In 2014, MEED: Middle East Business Intelligence named APR Energy’s 32MW power plant in Sur, Oman, as its Power Project of the Year. The plant, which was installed and operational in less than 20 days, provided the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company with peaking power to support the national grid during the summer when temperatures can exceed 50°C (122°F) and heavy demand on the country’s power grid can cause intermittent power outages.
MYANMAR | FAST-TRACK POWER PLANT OF THE YEAR
ASIAN POWER MAGAZINE
In 2014, Asian Power magazine awarded APR Energy the first of two awards the company would receive for its Kyaukse plant. The plant was operational just two months following contract signature and is one of the largest thermal power plants in the country. It generates enough power to meet the needs of approximately 6 million people in a country where nearly 42 million were without access to electricity, enhancing the local quality of life and supporting economic development. The contract for the plant was the first agreement between a U.S.-based company and the government of Myanmar for power generation since the lifting of sanctions in 2013.
