APR wins 20MW contract with EDF in Martinique: First turbine win under new Pratt & Whitney strategic agreement

Thursday, November 17, 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LONDON, UK / JACKSONVILLE, FL – APR Energy (APR), a global leader in temporary power solutions, announced today that it has been awarded a contract with Électricité de France S.A. (EDF), one of the world’s leading energy utilities, to supply a fast-track 20MW / 11kV power solution for the island of Martinique.

The contract win is the first under the strategic partnership with Pratt & Whitney announced on October 27th, 2011, and arose from a referral from Pratt & Whitney. The additional power in Martinique is required to counteract higher than usual energy demands coinciding with the island’s tourist season. It will be supplied by a single Pratt & Whitney MobilePac Dual Fuel Gas Turbine. Reflecting the immediate need for additional power in the island, the unit is scheduled to be producing power from early December.
John Campion, CEO of APR Energy, said: “We’re delighted to be awarded this contract and to welcome EDF as a new client. It demonstrates both the strength of our strategic partnership with Pratt & Whitney and the speed with which we can install a turbine generator and produce electricity from it.”

The Martinique contract win with EDF is the second turbine contract win APR has gained with a major utility, following the 203MW contract win with TEPCO in Japan this April.
